Cummins has identified Five Growth Accelerators to help the Company reach its full potential.
“We can’t sit still,” Chairman and CEO Tom Linebarger said at Cummins Annual Meeting in May 2013. “We’re not resting on our laurels by any means. So we’ve put together a five point plan we call the Five Growth Accelerators, which are our way to make sure we compete effectively in the future. We know we have to get better.”
The Five Growth accelerators are:
Adopting a “growth mindset” means thinking every day about how the Company can be ready for tomorrow’s opportunities. It means focusing on customer needs, market dynamics and the operating and regulatory environment not just today, but five, 10 or 15 years into the future. It also means having the financial ability to invest in growth opportunities, even in lean times.
Developing from a “multinational to a global company” requires aligning global and regional strategies, and ensuring processes work well in every country so every customer everywhere can benefit from the full power of Cummins.
Achieving “supply chain excellence” is critical to cost leadership, customer service, overall growth and fulfilling Cummins’ mission that “everything we do leads to a cleaner, healthier, safer environment.”
Customer Support Excellence, meanwhile, is a well-established Cummins initiative whose goal is ensuring every customer interaction is a successful one, whether it’s an internal or an external customer. Creating quality products, demonstrating the Company’s commitment to customer success and doing what we say we will do are all elements of a job that is never truly done.
Finally, investing in leadership development is critical to creating the right environment for success. This is not just about making the right decisions as Cummins grows, but creating a work environment where employees, working increasingly on global teams, can get the feedback they need to be successful.
