Cummins’ leaders praised employees for their dedication, saying without them today’s announcement would never have happened.
“We would not be standing here without the hard work of our employees,” said Cummins CEO Tom Linebarger.
Jeff Caldwell, General Manager of Cummins pickup truck business, agreed.
“You folks are a terrific example of how we unleash the power of Cummins for our customers,” Caldwell said.
While employees on the V8 diesel team knew about the agreement with Nissan, they enjoyed the announcement and said they are ready to go to work.
“I’m ecstatic,” said Mark Kuniewicz, Mechanical Development Leader with the team for about two years. “It took a lot of hard work to get to this point but I am excited about this product and to have Nissan as a partner.”
Peggy Cross, an Administrative Associate, has been with the team for about a year.
“I am so excited,” she said. “I think it’s great. I’m so proud of this team.”
Michael J. Edwards, a Support Specialist with the team for about five years, said the uncertainty about the project was tough at times, but it just made today’s announcement all the better.
“I am so excited,” he said. “This is great news for me, my family and the community.”
He said he is proud of the way the team stuck together.
“I am so honored to be a part of this group of people,” Edwards said. “Everybody just tried harder (in difficult times) to make a difference.”
